Naturtint shades use a number + letter system to indicate both the depth (darkness or lightness) and tone of the color.
Understanding the Numbers (Depth)
The number represents the depth of the color, meaning how light or dark it is.
- Lower numbers (1-6) are darker
- Higher numbers (7-10) are lighter
- Each increase in number lightens the shade by one level
For example:
- 6 = Medium to Light Medium Brown
- 7 = Light Brown
- 8 = Medium Blonde
- 9 = Very Light Blonde
- 10 = Lightest Blonde
If you go down a number (e.g., 7 → 6), your hair will be one shade darker. If you go up (e.g., 7 → 8), your hair will be one shade lighter.
Understanding the Letters (Tone)
The first letter is the primary tone, and the second letter is a secondary tone that adds dimension:
- N (Natural) – Neutral, best for gray coverage
- G (Gold) – Warm, golden tones
- C (Copper) – Reddish-orange hues
- R (Red) – Rich red tones
- M (Mahogany) – Red-violet undertones
- A (Ash) – Cool, reduces warmth
- W (Warm) – Soft warmth with a balanced finish
Blended Tones:
- GA (Gold Ash) – A blend of gold and ash tones
- GC (Gold Copper) – A blend of gold and copper tones
- GM (Chocolate) – Subtle gold and mahogany hues for a rich chocolate tone
- NB (Neutral Blue) – Natural and cool tones with underlying blue hues
- NM (Neutral Mahogany) – Natural tones with a touch of mahogany for richness
- NV (Neutral Violet) – Natural tones blended with red-violet hues
- WB (Warm Bronze) – A slight blend of copper and mahogany tones
- WG (Warm Golden) – A slight blend of golden and mahogany tones
- WN (Warm Neutral) – A mix of mahogany, gold, bronze, and neutral tones
